About Us

Carnegie Mellon Quiz Bowl, established in 1993, is a team of enthusiasts in many disciplines who compete against similar teams across the country. Recently, we have traveled to compete at Ohio State, Penn State, UPenn, and Johns Hopkins, in addition to competing in both national tournaments, in Chicago and Boston.

In order to support and encourage local high school teams, we host two high school tournaments per year: Mellon Bowl at the end of October, and Carnegie Quiz in the early spring. Through exhilarating, fast-paced competition and by connecting them with bright students from other schools, we encourage local students to learn both in and beyond the classroom. We believe promoting this is important because providing a central ‘canon’ of knowledge helps curtail the scarcity of cultural literacy in our highly specialized world. If you would like to learn more, feel free to contact us at any time!
